Pixel, Penzance
Location: Penzance, Cornwall
Status: Completed 2024
Client: Cornwall Council
This complex project was built over a former potable reservoir, with the original reservoir structures preserved and retained beneath the new building to protect the site’s archaeology.
The existing structures created significant challenges for the piled substructure, requiring precise setting out to avoid clashes with below ground features.
The architectural vision called for integration with existing wall fabric and included cantilevered elements to maximise usable footprint, resulting in a complex steel frame design.
Exposed steelwork was featured as part of the building’s striking façade.
