MBA Consulting Engineers were appointed to provide full civil and structural engineering services for the second phase of development at the Hayle Marine Renewable Business Park, an important strategic project led by Cornwall Council to support the region’s growing marine technology and low-carbon sectors.

Phase Two involved the development of new high-quality commercial and office space to attract and accommodate marine renewable energy businesses. The site, formerly part of a historic power station complex, presented a number of structural challenges requiring innovative and cost-effective solutions.

The site’s complex ground conditions, due to deep foundations, buried structures, and remnants of the old power station’s extensive concrete bases, necessitated comprehensive site investigation and detailed structural planning. Our team led investigative works to identify and map underground obstructions, enabling the design of new structural solutions that avoided excavation of existing substructures.
