MBA’s appointment covered all structural and civil engineering aspects of the project, including the design of the steel framed sports hall, suspended foundations and foul and surface water drainage systems.

Extensive consultation took place with the project Architect and Client in order to ensure that the Sport England requirements for each individual discipline was catered for within the hall and ancillary accommodation.

Cellular steel beams were incorporated into the main hall roof in order to provide a relatively light weight solution for the required curved roof form, supported from primary columns within the external walls designed to provide a flush internal playing surface.
