The redevelopment of the former Croft building at St Michaels Resort & Spa formed a key part of the resort’s wider expansion and revitalisation strategy. This ambitious project delivered a range of high-quality leisure and hospitality facilities, including new luxury hotel bedrooms, a state-of-the-art health club with gym and fitness studios, and a bespoke Gig Rowing Studio—a unique addition reflecting the local maritime heritage. The development also included a new indoor swimming pool, enhancing the resort’s wellness offering.

MBA Consulting Engineers provided full structural engineering services for the project. Our role began with a detailed study of the existing building, which included extensive archival research and thorough on-site investigations. Understanding the original structure’s load paths was crucial to designing sensitive structural modifications that respected the building’s current form while meeting the demands of modern use.
