St. Mary’s Hospital Extension & Refurbishment

MBA Consulting were appointed to undertake the structural & civil engineering aspects of this unique project comprising a large extension to St. Mary’s Hospital, Isles of Scilly.

Due to the limited construction capabilities of the island, the building was pre-manufactured and shipped across from the mainland.

The superstructure was designed using modular units by BlueSky Architects and assembled onto a pre-cast concrete substructure.

We worked closely with Cornish Concrete Products to design & detail various pre-cast concrete elements including foundations, columns, beams, floor planks and wall panels which were successfully assembled on site.

Construction is currently ongoing with the modular building units currently being installed.
