MBA Consulting provided full structural and civil engineering services for this bespoke hillside residence overlooking an estuary near St Mawes, replacing a previous dwelling on the site.

The steep and variable topography required carefully detailed foundations and integrated retaining walls, which also formed part of the landscaped design.

The ground floor used traditional cavity blockwork with a cast in-situ slab at first floor level to support open-plan layouts. A steel frame was introduced at the upper levels to accommodate complex curved geometry and extensive glazing.

An outdoor swimming pool was positioned at the crest of the slope, offering views down to the river.
